What does it take to be a civilization?

Ancient Civilizations

It is believed that the first civilization was developed in the land between two rivers in a place we now call Iraq. Not only was it the perfect location where nomads developed the skills of agriculture, but it is also where the wheel was invented and the first laws were recorded. In this place, the Tiber and Euphrates Rivers provided the natural resources to survive, and that made the fertile land worth fighting for.
Mesopotamia not only had what it took to develop a thriving economy based on agriculture, but also a surplus that  allowed them to trade. They developed writing that helped them keep records, and a polytheistic religion that answered the questions that we all still have today. In time they built cities like Babylon that would dominate the land, advance technology, and rule for thousands of years.
